The Students Representative Council of Kano State University of Science and Technology, KUST Wudil has called on the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU to resolve the lingering dispute with the management of the institution in the interest of the students.

The President of the Council, Uwaisu Ibrahim Babba, made this call in a statement made available to our Campus Correspondent on Sunday.

He said the council remains neutral in the lingering ” but is urgent need to call on the both parties to resolve this impasse”.


”The Students Representatives Council are neither criticizing ASUU of KUST Wudil nor supporting the University Management, but the real fact is that, we students are always the victims of such occurrence as the saying goes “When two elephants are fighting, the grass always suffers” and in realisation of this maxim we plead to both parties (ASUU and University Management) to join hand in other to solved the rising sad matters considering how the strike planned by ASUU of KUST Wudil will affect the academic calendar of the University”.

”The Students Representatives Council finds it of apt to use this as a medium to share with you the dismal and mournful condition upon seeing what had been going round the media houses in Kano State and KUST Wudil Community, to cut the story short, it is the recent Saga of Criticizing the University Management by the Academic Staffs Union of Universities, (ASUU) KUST Wudil Branch.

On this note, the Students Representatives Council call upon the Academic Staffs Union of Universities, KUST Wudil Branch that instead of voicing over the media, they should at least have a one-on-one meeting with the University Management to bring an everlasting solutions to the arising issues because voicing over the media would indeed tarnish and backwards the good image of varsity”.

Babba added that the feuds ASUU between management will endangered many students progress particularly the graduating pursuing for NYSC Mobilization.

“The Students Representatives Council is therefore pleading to both parties to please address the rising matters as these will affect not only academic calendar, mobilisation of Graduates For National Service by NYSC, but it may cause backwardness in the development of the University and can also make some students to engage in some social vices which we are not hoping for”.

Narrating the achievements of the Vice Chancellor the president said has overcome many challenges bedevelling the school.


”On assumption of office in 2013, the Vice Chancellor was inundated with numerous challenges, including low staff moral, occasioned by poor staff welfare, inadequate infrastructure, such as offices furniture selective renovation of staff quarter, delay in staff promotions and outright denial in some cases, for inexplicable reasons and total neglects of recreation centres. But he was undaunted by the mirage of challenges.

More Also, the payment of registration fees to more than 527 less privilege students and the readmission of withdrawn students who were victims of probation and several others which resulted in the development of the University has never been applaud and commended by ASUU”.
