The Bauchi State Governor Senator Bala Abdukadir Muhammad has bowed to overcome the challenges facing the state in various sector .
The Governor stated this in a statement signed by his Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Muktar Gidado tagged ” Gadau Declaration” A Two Day Retreat Organised for key Government officials in Bauchi State.
Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed who was voted across all the party line during the conduct of the 2019 general election which resulted in his emergence as the 6th Democratic elected Executive Governor of the state.
The Declaration statement reads ” Considering his popularity, love, concern, and the huge expectations of the citizens of the state on him, the governor even before taking the oath of office, inaugurated a team of experts comprising technocrats and professionals to conduct needs assessments on the challenges facing each critical sector of the economy with a view to re-positioning the state and its economy.
To ensure effective service delivery in managing the affairs of the state, the people’s governor hosted members of the State Executive Council, Special Advisers, Permanent Secretaries, Local Governments Caretaker Chairmen, Heads of Extra Ministerial Departments and other Political Appointees on a 2 day retreat conducted at Bauchi State University, Gadau”.
The statement further said ” For the first time in the history of Bauchi state, the governor did not only supported the conduct of the retreat, but participated fully throughout the two day period of the event .
The glamour of the retreat was the full participation of Alhaji Yayale Ahmed, a one-time Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Emirs of Bauchi, Misau and Dass, Alhaji Rilwanu Sulaimanu Adamu, Alhaji Ahmed Sulaiman, Alhaji Usman Bilyaminu Othman respectively . Others are Alhaji Adamu Aliyu, Walin Katagum, Senator Mohammed Mohammed, Alh Mohammed Maishanu , Professor Gambo Laraba Abdullahi, Senator Adamu Gumba, Dr Safiya Iliyasu, among others as invited guests.
During the retreat , 24 papers on various critical issues were presented, where governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed unveiled his administration’s blueprint and roadmap for a greater Bauchi state.
While unveiling his agenda, the governor said the blueprint is to enable him overcome the numerous challenges affecting the progress and development of the state and to perform better than his predecessors.
The cardinal planks of his Bauchi project is to ensure good governance, agricultural transformation, vigorous promotion of agro-allied industries, revenue boost, improved healthcare delivery, rural transformation and his dogged desire to observe Due process in government business”.
The Media Aide further explained ” To provide the required basic social amenities to the citizenry, Governor Bala Mohammed’s administration will continue to exploit all available windows of opportunities in accessing International aids and grants from donor agencies and other multilateral organizations.
The governor while declaring the retreat closed, said with technocrats as members of his cabinet, the administration before the end of its tenure, would recorded remarkable achievements for sustainable growth and development.
The chairman of the occasion and former secretary to the government of the federation, Alhaji Yayale Ahmed while making his remarks, described governor Bala Mohammed’s blueprint as the best plans set up by any administrations in the state apart from the administration of late Tatari Ali.
The participants of the retreat have already resolved to adopt the comprehensive blueprint unveiled by Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed.
In a communique issued at the end of the 2 day retreat which was read by the State Deputy Governor, Senator Baba Tela resolved that, all the participants have vowed to support the Governor to actualize his blueprint which encompasses among other things, a paradigm shift in the conduct of public service.
The participants welcomed the innovative reforms enunciated by Governor Bala Mohammed particularly the introduction of Key Performance Indicators as a means of bench marking stewardship of Chief Executives and other major stakeholders in the public service and agreed to pursue the diversification of the economy in a Non-Oil sectors of Agriculture and Solid Mineral Development , in addition to intensifying efforts at reinvigorating the Internally Generated Revenue machinery.
Areas that were discussed at the retreat include among others, roadmap for a greater Bauchi state, overview of Public Service delivery in the 21st century, Revenue Generation, Revitalization of Education, Public Financial Management and Procurement Reform.
It is therefore hoped that the people of Bauchi State would rally round the Governor with robust commitment , solidarity and support to take Bauchi State to the New level”.
