The game for the very soul of the Nigerian state or producing a Nigerian president from the Southwest in 2023 has just begun!

Instead of the Northern intellectuals to continue wasting their time on debating the illegality of Amotekun, why wouldn’t we start thinking about securing the northern territories within the ambit of the law that we glorify?

Today the north is the least secured, most economically and technologically backward region in the country. It has become the headquarters of insurgency, kidnapping and cattle rustling in recent years.

Our governors have been doing very little to change that at the states level. Yet, we are loosing sleep because of the Southwest leaders who are willing to challenge the Nigerian state in order to secure their territories.

How can the Federal Government get rid of initiatives like Amotekun, and still effectively secure all the 36 states plus the FCT within the existing security architecture? This would have been a more interesting discussion to do instead of these sentimental bickerings.

The Yorubas have a history of winning constitutional battles like this, or at best, use these battles to negotiate for power at the center. The game for the very soul of the Nigerian state or producing a Nigerian president from the Southwest in 2023 has just begun!
