NUBASS stages Peaceful Walk in honour of Late Prime Minister, calls on FG to declare Jan 15 as Public Holiday


The National President of Bauchi State Union, NUBASS , Comr. Adamu Musa Kaloma has called on the Federal Government to declare 15th January as public holiday in honour of the fallen heroes.

The President made this called yesterday when he lead a march of thousand youths and students of Bauchi State as parts of events organised by union to mourn the assassination of the Late Prime Minister, Sir Abubakar Tafawa-Balewa on the 15th January, 1966.

He said ” considering the roles played by the Late Prime Minister and other notable Nigeria who sacrifice their soul there need for the Federal Government to honor this fallen heroes by declaring January 15th every year as public holiday”.

The youths carrying placards with various inscriptions stage a peaceful march from the Abubakar Tafawa-Balewa Stadium to the resident of the Late Prime Minister, His tomb and terminated at the palace of Emir of Bauchi.

Speaking at the Emir’s palace, Kaloma extolled virtues and examplary of the country’s heroes, stressing their contributions to nation ” is worthy of emulation by every Nigerian”.

He also called on stakeholders in Bauchi state, North East and the country at large to support education under the new initiative of Sir.Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Memorial Students Trust Fund (ATBMSTF) at aimed in helping those from less privileged families and needies

At the palace of Emir of Bauchi Alh Dr.Ridwan Sulaiman Adamu

Responding the Emir, Alh ( Dr.) Ridwan Suleiman Adamu commended the leadership of the union for organising the walk in honour of Late Tafawa-Balewa.
