One of the major leadership problems in Nigeria is lack of continuity of vital programmes and projects which resulted to colossal loss and waste of resources.

Before the coming of Governor Ganduje,Kano state has witnessed various military and civilian Governors who contributed immensely to educational, economic, infrastructure and political development of the State. However, the pattern and style of leadership by all the governors is almost the same in terms of contuinity of policies, programmes and projects by successive governments but fortunately for us today, Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje proved to be unique and exceptional among his predecessors in terms of leadership style as he has the spirit of contuinity of the policies, programmes and projects inherited from the previous governments irrespective of the political differences and grudges.

To attain sustainable development in any society, the contuinity of government policies, programmes and projects become necessary so as to have a judicious and prudent use of the state resources.

Going by history, there are so many policies, programmes and projects that were abandoned by successive governments simply because of political or selfish interests of those in governments which undermine speedy and sustainable development of the state.

The emergence of Ganduje as the Governor has brought a change of this primitive and irrational style of leadership where he revisited the lists of abandoned and uncompleted projects that are of great benefits to the people of Kano State and ordered for the completion of such projects and some of them were completed within a short time.

Some of the completed projects include Gigingiyu and Zoo Road Hospitals started by Shekarau administration and many other uncompleted projects by Kwankwaso such as Murtala Mohammed way flyover, Sabon-titin Panshekara, Kofar ruwa and Dangi underpass which now ease movements of vehicles within Kano Metropolis.

Every committed leader spreads developmental projects through integrated rural development which will give the areas a sense of belonging to feel they are parts and parcels of the government and this is also found with Ganduje’s administration.

Ganduje in his inclusive style of leadership does not limit and restricted the developmental projects of his government to the metropolitan local governments alone, but also included other local governments in the rural areas through executing various projects in the local governments to ensure the development of the rural areas on one hand and the fulfilment of the campaigns promises on the other.

Another giant task performed Ganduje is the decentralization of the traditional institution through creation of additional four emirates that include Bichi, Gaya, Karaye and Rano which now became full pledge emirates with first class Emirs. Indeed this is a great development as the new emirates will serve as medium of channeling people’s needs to the authorities concern and will also facilitate speedy and sustainable development of the emirates and the state at large.

In view of this, he deserve commendation and absolute support of the people of Kano so as to inspire and encourage him to do more in order to ensure and facilitate rapid development of nook and corners of Kano State.

The continuity style of leadership of Ganduje without doubt will take Kano to the promise land and it is indeed a great achievement to have a government that will have the masses at heart and is committed towards the overall welfare of its people.

At this juncture we are appealing to our political office holders to embrace this style of leadership so as to move Kano state and Nigeria forward.

Khadimul Islam indeed you deserved the title of FATHER OF CONTINUITY.
