The committee set up by the Bauchi State Government to fish out workers and pensioners in its payroll without Bank Verification Number BVN, is to commence the verification of about 10,000 state and local government pensioners today.

This followed the completion of the first leg of its assignment, which was the verification of state and local government staff as well as teachers under local education authorities in the 20 local government areas of the state.

Secretary of the verification committee Isiaka Tijjani told newsmen in Bauchi that, already six sub-committees have been set up to conduct the exercise which will last for four days.

Isiaka Tijjani claimed that a preliminary investigation in 2 local government areas had already led to the discovery of 20 deceased pensioners whose pension allowance was still being received by some people even after their death.

He assured the pensioners that the verification will be conducted in the respective areas they reside.
